Tina is Professor of Animal Biosciences at the University of Guelph, Ontario Canada, specializing in applied animal behaviour and welfare. As Egg Farmers of Canada Research Chair in Poultry Welfare, her research team focuses mainly on housing and management factors that affect the behavior, health and welfare of growing pullets and laying hens. Widowski has served on a number of scientific advisory committees including Chair of the Scientific Committee for Canada’s Code of Practice for Laying Hens, and currently the United Egg Producers Scientists Committee on Animal Welfare (USA). She was a member of the Layer Code Development Committee, and the Animal Care Redevelopment Team which was tasked with revising the on-farm Animal Care Program for laying hens.
